TWO CARS IN A CHASE HIDDEN BY A PLANE, DVD / PAL / 16:9 / Length: 9’, 2005
This 9-minute long video is based on the equally long scene of a car chase in the movie ‘Bullit’ (1968, Directed by: Peter Yates). Through scaling and overlapping, only a part of the movie is visible which normally is cut off by television sets. This ‘real’ Hollywood film scene therefore is abstracted by these small, leftover picture stripes. The title refers to one piece of John Baldessaris’ series ‚Violent Space’, in which with the help of large-scale coverage of the pictures’ contents and the abstract areas whichstem from them also provides a direct link to Kasimir Malewitsch’s abstract painting (i.e. his legendary black square).
